engagement story part 2

My Engagement Outfit Details: DRESS Denim Dress (size down, runs large) // SHOES Jeffrey Campbell Wedged Sandals // EARRINGS Orange Kendra Scott 'Elle' Earrings // NECKLACE Delicate Gold Pull-Chain Necklace (adjustable length!)

Happy Monday! I hope that you had a lovely weekend. Here is the second part of my two-part engagement post! The first part was published on Friday and it contained a detailed outline of the engagement with a lot of pictures! Today's post is all about the hidden photographers. My fiancé, Bradford, had two of his friends secretly photograph the event. The majority of the photos were taken by our photographer friend, who you can find at this instagram handle (@visual.theory). I am still beyond overjoyed about the proposal.

Also, this Monday marks my last week of classes as an undergraduate college student. Next week is final, but for some odd reason, this week feels more overwhelming then the finals weeks to come. Maybe I am feeling so overwhelmed because I have four papers due by Friday. Oh well, I'm almost done!

Thank you for reading. And remember, if you missed out on the first-part of my engagement series, you can catch up by reading it here!

engagement story part 1

April 22, 2016

I am so excited about today's post because it is the first part of my two-part engagement series on the blog. I decided to split the story up into two parts because I have photos of the event that tell two parts of the story. First, I wanted to provide a little background on my relationship and the day leading up to the proposal.  Grab a cup of coffee, this post is going to be a long one :)

My fiancé, named Bradford, and I met during the beginning of our sophomore year of college. Our first date was September 20, 2013, so we have been dating for a little over two and a half year. Funny enough, my boyfriend received a concussion the day after our first date on September 21! Since it was a pretty severe concussion, he suffered some serious memory lost and completely forgot that we even went on our first day {my own personal 50 First Dates experience}. It is a great story to laugh about now, but during the moment, I was so devastated because I really adored him and I knew that he was something special. I was worried that I would have to start all over and get him to like me again. Thankfully, his memory about our first date slowly but surely came back! Praise the Lord! I knew, after just a couple dates, that he was going to be the man that I would eventually call my husband.

Now, flashforward a little bit...we started talking about marriage towards the end of last summer. Even though we still needed time before we got engaged to finish up the majority of our senior year, marriage was something that we both knew was apart of our future together. In January, he met with my dad and asked for his permission. If it wasn't obvious, my dad said YES, and gave him his blessing! Woohoo!

Now, I was not aware of this, but now that I finally have the ring on my finger, I know all of the secrets ;) The day after his meeting with my dad in January, Bradford went and bought a ring. He said that it was under his bed in a suitcase for months! Crazy, I had no idea! Ultimately, I knew we were going to get engaged before our graduation in May. So Bradford kept me on edge these past several months ahah!

Now to narrate the actual event . . .
So, if you didn't know about the actual date yet, I got engaged on Sunday April 17! About a week prior to the engagement {and this is where the fun part comes in because my blog becomes involved} Bradford told me that he wanted to do a lifestyle photoshoot on the beach with a fancy table set up. He said that we would do it on Sunday after church the next weekend. I hadn't really thought much of his desire to do a lifestyle photoshoot after he first mentioned it because he didn't bring it up again until the actual date of the proposal, as we were driving to church.

Now, after the service ended, he took me to one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Santa Barbara, called Santa Clause beach. As per usual for most shoot days, we got my camera ready and wandered down to the beach. As we go closer to the sand, I saw the most beautiful table set up. There were a variety of white flowers {even a stunning orchid!}, sparkling cider, wine flutes, plates, candles, and a wooden platter.

Before we went to the table setting though, we stopped to take some photos in front of the water.
We went closer to the beach and sand and took some outfit photos there. Below, are all of the photos that were taken by him on my camera.

As you can see, we didn't take many pictures in front of the water. We wandered pretty quickly over to the table set up...

After we completed the above photos. Bradford told me to lift up the wooden platter because he left a surprise {lol he might have actually said there was food under there, I can't remember} under there.

I pick up the box and he tells me to open it. Oddly enough, when I opened it, I saw that it was a pair of earrings. {That stinker was messing with me!} After several seconds of confusion, he told me to take the earrings out so that I could get a better look at them. I took the earrings out, and immediately under them, sat the most beautiful ring I have ever laid my eyes on. He quickly took the box and then asked me to marry him! My response was: "Yes, a million times yes!" He then went to put the ring on, and asked what hand it went on ahah! He put it on, and I could not stop staring at it!

Shortly after, all of the photographers and several of our close friends came out of their hiding spots to congratulate us! As I said in the beginning of the post, this is a two-part series. I will be sharing the pictures that the photographers took in the next post on Monday! As for now, below are some pictures that we took right after the engagement.

I am so excited for my future with the love of my life! He is the man of my dreams, and I am beyond blessed to be have him as my fiancé.

Remember to come back on Monday to see more photos from the proposal!

The denim dress I was wearing on my engagement day was perfect! I'm so glad I picked it up on Saturday and wore it on Sunday! Perfect timing! :) {P.S. If you do order the dress, make sure to size down a size, it runs big! For reference I'm wearing an XS Petite and I'm usually a S!}

Without further a due, below is an Instagram recap & round-up, since it has been over a month since my last one.

You guys probably get tired of me always talking about these tanks, but they are so comfortable! I'm thinking of adding a third to my collection, but I'm just trying to decide on a color. {P.S. A similar tote is linked from the same retailer, since mine is an older style}

I love the feeling of a fresh haircut! The salon I have been going to for the past year or so is named Essence. Heidi is the person that does my hair, and she is great for people who have long hair. She works wonders!

This is honestly the best cinnamon roll I have ever had in my life. It was home to one of the cutest bakeries in town: Recipes Bakery. If you are from the Santa Barbara area, or ever in town on a vacation, definitely make a stop by there! {Not Pictured: the most amazing iced Mocha I have ever had in my life...and that's saying a lot, since I have consumed my fair share of Mocha's in my past four college years...}

If you do order the dress, make sure to size down a size, it runs big! For reference I'm wearing an XS Petite and I'm usually a S!}

Stay tuned, because I will be sharing my engagement story and my feelings about being engaged in the near future. Also, I am super excited to share the wedding planning process with all of you!

classic twist

April 15, 2016

My Outfit Details: SHIRT Classic T-Shirt (comes in 16 different colors!) // SHORTS Blue Denim Cuffed Shorts // SHOES Jeffrey Campbell Lace-Up Wedges // PURSE Reversible Black & Nude Tote  // WATCH Fossil Brown Leather Watch // EARRINGS Pearl Studs (similar linked, mine are a family heirloom) // SUNGLASSES Cat-Eye Sunnies (only $12--I wear them all the time!)

Casual outfits with a hint of fab are my ultimate favorite. Let's take this look for example: the classic t-shirt and shorts duo, but marked with an elegant twist in the form of lace-up wedge sandals. Immediately, the outfit went from normal to something unique . . . just with the addition of a cute pair of shoes ;) {Shoes are truly a girls best friend . . . }

Also, last weekend, after a tireless year-long hunt, I finally found a pair of shorts that fit perfectly and do not break the bank {they're on sale for $15 right now}! They're the perfect fit, and are not too short. I feel extremely comfortable wearing them!

You have seen this bag plastered all over the blog since I received it for my birthday back in December,  but you usually only see the black version and not the reversed nude color. I don't reverse this tote enough! I need to, because honestly, who doesn't love a two-in-one purse?!

P.S. This shirt comes in over 16 colors options, and it is beyond comfortable. It is bound to be a classic staple in your closet!

I hope you have a lovely weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

My Outfit Details: TOP White High-Neck Tank  (only $20, have it in black too!) // JEANS Gap Boyfriend Jeans  (old, same retailer linked) // SHOES Black Pumps (super comfortable!) // PURSE Sparkly Pink Kate Spade Crossbody // EARRINGS Pearl Studs (similar linked, mine are a family heirloom) // LAYERED NECKLACES Long Gold Necklace & Smaller Gold Necklace // SUNGLASSES Pink Ray-Ban Aviators

Yup, this post is definitely going up later then usual today--sorry about that! Essays have been consuming my life . . . but, school is almost over! Woot Woot! I'm definitely looking forward to a break from learning and school this summer :) Even though I will be graduating from college this May, I officially committed to a teaching credential program that is closer to my home {More school for me!} Most importantly, I am excited to move back home and student-teach in the area that I grew up in! Make sure to stay up to date with the The Teacup of Style during this year to come because I will definitely be sharing some of my funny student-teaching moments.

Onto my outfit . . . I am still obsessed with these pink sunnies. They definitely make any outfit, and they are probably going to be my most worn accessory this summer. Be prepared to see them all over the place! I also wanted to "test the waters" a little a pair my favorite boyfriend jeans with the most comfortable pair of black pumps to ever be created. I never knew an outfit could be both casual and dressy {hello, oxymoron} but this look definitely is!

I hope that you had a lovely Wednesday, and I'll see you on Friday for the next post :)
