Dress: Express: sold out, similar // Flower Belt: Francesca's sold out, similar // Shoes: Soda // Bracelet: Charming Charlie sold out, similar // Jacket: Forever 21 sold out, similar // Nail Polish Essie in "Watermelon" // Earrings: Betsey Johnson sold out, similar (on sale for $21!)

If you can't tell, my go to color to wear is black. Ever since my early teenage years, I have gravitated towards buying black pieces. The past few years I have tried to ignore my impulse to pick black and/or darker pieces and attempt to go outside of my comfort zone and incorporate POPS of color. But...every once and awhile I go back to my roots. For example, this outfit above. Every time I wear a black-heavy outfit I realize why I fell in love with wearing this color in the first place. A black outfit immediately looks fresh and classy. Ultimately, LBD's are my favorite classy look! I love this LBD and this one as well.

Also, I have always loved floral patterns and incorporating flowers into my outfits, even during the fall and winter months.  When paired with a floral pattern, black outfits provide a perfect back drop to really help the look stand out.

My current favorite floral pieces that you can incorporate into any outfit are:

Have a wonderful weekend.

Black Friday Shopping: Francesca's

November 27, 2014

One of my favorite stores to shop at is Francesca's! They have the cutest jewelry, knick knacks, and clothes! What are some of my favorites for there Holiday Kickoff 20% discount sale? Find them here! Also they're doing a 30% discount on Black Friday!!
Links to the items are above each picture! Enjoy!

How adorable is this festive scarf? Pick up this cutie and wear it through the holiday season!

This wallet can easily be transformed into the cutest clutch. It would look perfect with this dress from Francesca's. I love POPS of bright colors incorporated into an outfit.

Holy cow these socks...Do these even need an explanation as to why these are on the list...?

These booties are to die for. How awesome is the wooden heel? They would look super cute with a chunky blanket scarf and a faux fur vest.

I think every person needs a plain black watch in their wardrobe. This style is super simple and will go with just about anything. Enough said, right?

I've been on the hunt for a ring holder, and this is the perfect one. Why might you ask? It is a super cute kitty, duh. Plus it's super affordable as well. You could pick this up for yourself or even snag it for a Christmas gift for a cat-lover in your life.

Ever since I started college several years ago, I have become addicted to tea. I usually stuck to pre-bagged leaf tea out of connivence. I have recently discovered though that some of the best tasting tea is loose leaf! Therefore, why not add this super cute clock themed tea infuser to your tea collection so that you can enjoy super yummy loose-leaf tea.

I saw this mug a couple weeks ago on Francesca's Instagram and instantly fell in love. I have a slight (or major) obsession with mugs and animals. This mug combines these two loves in a really cute and simplistic way.

I have always been extremely impressed with Francesca's jewelry and how well their pieces are made. Their jewelry is not only super well made but their collections are bright, colorful, and classy. If you have ever been in a Francesca's boutique before and spent some time at their jewelry table you will know exactly what I am talking about! These earrings are the perfect fall/winter to a wardrobe. Pair them with a scarf or your favorite white long sleeve and they will provide the perfect POP of color.

Look at the beautiful detail in this jeweled cuff! Gold is my favorite jewelry tone, and when you add white beads and sparkling crystals to a bracelet I instantly will adore it!

My all time favorite accessory is the infamous statement necklace. This particular piece is perfect for the holidays. Pair it with your holiday party outfit and you are good to go!

Remember for a limited time only Francesca's online has a Holiday Kickoff Sale for 20% off EVERYTHING!!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

November Favorites

November 24, 2014

What have I been loving this month? You will find it here!

NOTE: Links for each item can be found in the title of the item

#1 Essie Nail Polish in "Watermelon"
This nail polish color has been my favorite "go to" color by far this month. I wholeheartedly believe in including a "pop" of color into fall and winter outfits. The simplest way to do that can be through your nail polish! I was not the only one who enjoyed this color, because I got numerous complements on it from other people as well every time I wore it.
The color is depicted in my picture below:

#2 Nordstrom Light Weight Scarf in "Grey Cloudburst"
I love simple colored scarfs that can go with almost anything. This gray scarf from Nordstrom was the accessory that I reached for most this month. It is super lightweight and chunky: the perfect combination! The material is made up of 70% cashmere and 30% wool, making the scarf super soft and comfy. There are also over a dozen color options for this scarf on Nordstrom's website. I highly recommend picking one up! Also, they are currently on sale with 20% off!
Scarf pictured below:

#3 Lush "Cupcake" Face Mask
I have always struggled with oily and acne prone skin since my early pre-teen years. Thankfully, this face mask aids to calm breakouts and reduce oiliness on your face. What I love about this face mask is that it is made out of very natural ingredients, has a cooling feel on your face, makes my skin feel super smooth, plus who wouldn't want their face to smell like chocolate? Lush also offers various other face masks for many of your other skin problem areas. Plus, the face masks are super affordable as well ($6.95). They last for three weeks and I got eight uses out of mine total, which evens out to be about $0.86 a use! Super cheap!
Here is a picture of me with the face mask on (sorry if this is scary):

#4 Dior Addict Lip Gloss in "Diablotine"
This has been my favorite lip color this month. This is my first Dior Addict Lip Gloss and I have to say that I have fallen in love with this product! Not only is the formula perfect, but I adore the colors they provide. Personally, my favorite one was "Diablotine" because it provides a perfect pink colored gloss (that isn't too bright) with gold colored sparkles that aren't too overpowering.
An example of this lip gloss can be seen in this picture below:

#5 Target Black Wedged Booties
Booties are a major favorite fall staple of mine. I think they look super cute paired with dresses, tights, leggings, pants, and just about everything else. They are also very versatile and can be dressed up or down. My favorite pair that I have are from Target, which means that they are cute and affordable as well! I've already worn them a ton this much and will definitely be pairing them with countless outfits to come!
Here is a picture of me wearing them below:

#6 Dior "Blooming Bouquet" Fragrance
Yes, I have another Dior favorite this month! (And I'm not even sorry about it!) This month if I went to a fancy event, went on a date, or just about anything else that required me to dress-up, I made sure to pair my outfit with this wonderful floral scent. Not only does the perfume smell delicious, but it also comes in a beautiful bottle that deserves to be on display.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Week!

My Passion for Thumbholes

November 18, 2014

Lorna Jane Long Sleeve (ON SALE!)  // Charming Charlie Scarf sold out (VERY similar: just has horseshoes instead of bicycles, plus it's ON SALE!) // Target Shoes sold out similar, also love these // Essie Nail Polish color "Watermelon"

What better way to stay warm in the cooler months than to participate in the wearing of the innovate THUMBHOLE? They not only make long sleeve shirts with thumbholes, but they also make pajamas,  gloves and jackets.  Thumbholes not only keep you warm but they look super cute as well! A super cute vest, like this one would love wonderful added to this style as well.

I picked out a few of my favorites with a thumbhole design (listed below).

Favorite Number Three

P.S. I would love to have a comment or two on my post if you enjoyed it or if you have any other thoughts :)

Have a wonderful rest of your week. I will be braving the cold weather of Kansas on Thursday as I head over to attend Cross Country Nationals.

Okay, so it's still warm out. What do I wear to a dressed up event?

November 15, 2014

I have always been a big believer in wearing maxi dresses to any fancy event. They immediately look classy (plus most are extremely comfortable. BONUS!) Bright colors seem to be sticking around for fall and winter styles, so take advantage of beautiful and vibrant looking patterns and incorporate them into your night out. A few of my favorite maxi dresses can be found herehere, and here. And if busy prints aren't your thing, rock an awesome solid colored dress as well. My favorite solid colored dresses can be found here and here.

Hint, hint! Gold accents look beautiful with vibrant prints.

My outfit was for a wedding at a polo field, but if you have a fancier event to attend just throw on a pair of heels and you're good to go!

And as always, don't forget to incorporate your own touch of style and confidence to any outfit you wear. Have a lovely weekend.

With Love,

Outfit Details
P.S. I planned out my outfit well in advance for the wedding, so most of the items that I am wearing above are no longer in stock online. But I will give credit to where I found them and I'll keep my eyes peeled to see if they show up online.

Simply Stated: Let's Talk Statement Necklaces

November 8, 2014

It is no secret that I adore statement necklaces. If you follow me on Instagram (@teacupofstyle), you will see exactly what I mean.

BUT often times it can be tricky trying to combine a bold necklace with an outfit. You often find yourself asking: "What earrings are okay?" "Is my outfit 'too busy'?" "Am I actually pulling this off?"

There is good news, you can pull it off! There are just usually a few guidelines that I like to follow that help me when it comes to statement necklaces.

1. When picking out your jewelry tones....Keep everything in the same color or tone family when it comes to the metal tones (usually gold or silver). For example, if you have a statement necklace that is gold colored make sure that the rest of your jewelry is gold as well.

2. When picking out your earrings...Think simple! I usually do not wear dangly earrings with a bold statement necklace because I don't want my look to be too busy. A simple pair of studs is always a good way go to!

3. The POP affect....My favorite way to wear colored statement necklaces is to pair them with a crisp white shirt, as you can see in the picture above. BUT that is definitely not the only way to wear statement necklaces. I personally just think that is the coolest way to really make your necklace POP!

4.Don't leave your confidence at the door...And lastly, (and most importantly) don't forget to put on your daily dose of confidence! Don't worry about the boldness of your statement necklace, rock it! If you love it, who cares what other people think!

Remember, these are guidelines not requirements. These are just tricks that I have liked and wanted to pass onto all of you!

Have a wonderful rest of you weekend!
